I painted the walls gray, the roof blue, and the door and trim white before cutting the pieces loose to put them together.  I chose to paint the roof instead of using the "rolled roofing" (the two dark pieces at the bottom left of the picture on the right.

Carriage House Kit #104Z (Z scale)

The carriage house kit is mostly laser-cut wood, plus a couple of pieces of some other material for the roofing paper and a decal for "Kentucky Club Pipe Tobacco. The dimensions of the pieces for the kit as shown to the right are approximately 4 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches.

Everything went pretty well.  The only problem was that the roof of the room extending from the carriage house was too small, so I cut and painted a piece of cardboard from a VHS box to fit.

After the final assembly I did a little touch-up painting.
