Engine Weight

I have three Z scale F7A
diesel locomotives - two
from Micro-Trains (MTL)
and one from Marklin.
There is a large
difference in weight
between the locomotives
from the two manufacturers.

The MTL Santa Fe engine
weighs 62.6 grams and the
12 Days of Christmas locomotive weighs 62.5 grams. They travel around the MTL starter set oval of track (about 20 x 16 inches) very well.

The Marklin Santa Fe loco
weighs only 23.1 grams. It
jumps the track much more
easily than the MTL
engines. Perhaps that's
the fault of my track -
its just lying there on my dining room table.
